Is it possible to get emails that were sent prior to MX getting configed for my domain?

Posted on May 18, 2017

I moved domain registered with Enom about a month ago but at the time I didn’t set up email for G Suite. I only added MX records for GMail today. Is it possible to retrieve emails that were sent to account in meantime? Or will they just have bounced and be lost?

Those email messages are probably bounced and gone.

The standards say that if there’s no MX record an attempt will be made to send email to the A record for the domain. If that server doesn’t have an email server running – or its not configured to accept mail for the domain – messages won’t get accepted and get bounced back to the sender.
