Is it possible to install cPanel on Ubuntu 14.04 x64?

  • Posted September 11, 2014

Hello All, We are running a Ubuntu 14.04 x64 distribution, and would like to know if we can install cPanel on the server.

Thanks in advance

Yes you can. I actually use the DO droplet to provide hosting services to my clients. You would have to pay for the license tho which is anywhere between $10 to $15 per month

This tutorial might help you configuring it

No. Cpanel doesn’t support Debian based distro and ubunutu by definition is Debian based. Even Fedora is not supported by cpanel although it is similar to Redhat or CentOS.

The only trusted source to buy cpanel is only at

Can you point me to any authenticated place from where I can get a cPanel license at cheaper cost ??

Hello there,

You can now run cPanel/WHM on Ubuntu which is a great alternative.

This document describes the system requirements for your cPanel & WHM installation on an Ubuntu® server. You can install cPanel & WHM on Ubuntu version 20.04 LTS.

If there is a new product available in the marketplace we will update this thread with the information.

Hope that this helps!

Hi, @ChrisBoy

Unfortunately cPanel/WHM can be only installed on CentOS, CloudLinux , or RHEL and it’s not available for install on Debian.

You can check the full requirements on cPanel’s docs:

We offer cPanel/WHM as one-click app through our marketplace which you can check here as well:

cPanel is a third party application managed through our Marketplace. New installations of cPanel come with a 15 day free trial. For further use beyond that point a valid license will need to be purchased directly through cPanel.

Please refer to below link for further details:

Hope that this helps! Regards, Alex

Depending on which features of cPanel you need, you might instead try ServerPilot which does support 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04.
