Is it possible to shrink the size of a snapshot?

Before block storage became available in Frankfurt, I had to increase the droplet size, which I now would like to revert. I have already attached a block storage volume and moved the data there, and my “base” disk is now quite empty. What I would like to do now is to take a snapshot of the droplet and use it to spin up a smaller droplet with just some more storage.

The problem is, I can’t happen to get that to work. Does anybody have some tips or ideas or has done that before?

Unfortunately, Droplets spun up from snapshots of older Droplets are limited to the original Droplet’s size as the lower limit.

You can, however, migrate your existing Droplet to one of a smaller size and then attach the Block Storage volume to the new Droplet. Check out the following tutorial series on migrating Linux servers:
