Is it possible to use the DO hostname on the private network instead of the Private IP?

Posted on May 26, 2015

I have a droplet running a postgres database and a droplet running an app server. The app server is able to access the database using the internal private IP (10.xx.xx.xx). This isn’t ideal if the database server’s IP address changes in the case of disaster recovery. It would be much nicer if I could access the database server over the private network via the hostname (db.xxxxx.com). This is not a domain name, just the hostname that I gave the droplet when I created it.

Is this possible?
