In what way HA proxy and the load balancer given here are different?

Hi @E0013356

I cannot find the post, but I think I read somewhere that the DigitalOcean Load Balancer (LB) is using HAproxy. In general, DigitalOcean runs on a lot of open source.

It's very easy to use the LB compared to setting up and maintaining HAproxy - and you can take advantage of the API, and it comes without any bandwidth charges.

But it's not as advanced as running your own HAproxy - so if you need something, which LB doesn't provide currently, then setup HAproxy.

DigitalOcean has a mission to provide the simplest cloud infrastructure for developers. With that in mind, the Load Balancer aims to balance both simplicity and enough performance and features so that the majority of applications can make use of the product. In this article, we'll focus on how to create free SSL certificates using Let's Encrypt to secure connections to the Load Balancer.
