Is the volume write speed slower than the droplet drive speed?

I am using an attached volume as my swap page, but it seems to be significantly slower than when I was using my main storage as my swap page. Is it just my imagination/bad luck on my observation of a few hours, or is there a technical reason behind this?

Volumes are attached over the network, it’ll usually be slower. Why do you rely on SWAP?
