Issue regarding Email Service

Posted June 19, 2014 2.4k views
I have a basic 512 MB Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit VPS with LEMP stack and wordpress. I have installed postfix server. I have a contact Form 7 plugin installed. When a form is submitted, it is processed without errors. But the message couldn't be found on Inbox as well as Spam Folder. When I checked the mail queue for postfix on my server, I can see all the emails there. When I reached for the support then they replied that "A mail server often has problems sending mails if it doe not have enough RAM. You may need to consider upgrading to a 1 GB RAM server to successfully send mail." The question is: Is there any alternative solutions for the above problem without upgrading the RAM ?

I have been running a personal mail server for months with 512mb droplet. Granted is low volume but no issues. Have Horde and Roundcube as webmail. No real website however. Just make sure you set up the swap file. Between mysql, clamd, and amavis-new they do push server to the limits. Probably should be 1 gig. Does the mailq or mail logs give you any hint at what the problem is?
  • mailq just gives the following like output: C26AA41A06 363 Tue Jun 17 09:17:37 fail2ban 897BC41A08 940 Tue Jun 17 09:33:06 www-data E75194594D 120 Mon Jun 9 08:33:17 tushar 21262400F1 119 Thu Jun 19 09:32:47 tushar B0C5245952 905 Mon Jun 9 08:52:09 www-data 1086341A0E 949 Wed Jun 18 13:24:33 www-data -- 27 Kbytes in 35 Requests. I don't want a webmail. I just want the server to process the Contact Form and deliver the content to my email address: that is accessed via gmail.
