Issue with Strongswan: How to configure the client (right) side IPSec parameters?

VPN Ubuntu 16.04

I followed the instruction "How to Set Up an IKEv2 VPN Server with StrongSwan on Ubuntu 16.04" at—-configuring-strongswan

Everything was fine but there is one catch. When configuring the client (right) side IPSec parameters, should I replace the text in red in the instruction with some personal setting?

Since I kept those parameters as they are, I can connect to the VPN I set up, at least in my Windows VPN setting. However, when I use browser to figure out my IP address, my real IP address, instead of the one of the VPN server, is detected. Apparently I am not actually connected to the VPN. What should I do?

I also tried it with ipad. I got connected to VPN, but I had no access to the internet at all.

Thanks for your help.

Same problem... anybody?
I can't even connect to the VPN cause I didn't replace the client firewall ip addresses with something new other than the red ip...
