Load Balancing: Over 10,000 Simultaneous Connections

Posted on May 14, 2020

Hello. We’re currently looking at creating a branded landing page to host a broadcasted livestream through. We’re hoping to add a simple FAQ, some event information, but we’re also being told to expect a total of 30,000 peak concurrent viewers.

Reading the Load Balancing Spec Sheet I see that the DO solution can only support 10,000 simultaneous connections. I’m assuming we’d have to look for a different solution with this many expected users. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You would probably want to look at setting up your own load balancer as it could handle more traffic. I would check out the load balancer tutorials here in the community: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tags/load-balancing Possibly something there could meet your needs.
