Login to new droplet without email

Posted on July 27, 2014

I want to be able to access a new droplet, but my hosts webmail is down for maintenance for the next few hours and so cannot access email. Does this mean you cannot access new droplets?

I believe that DigitalOcean gives you the option to include an SSH Key at Droplet Generation Time. So you could bypass the need for passwords altogether with this option.

If you have a different email address you should be able to temporarily change it in the control panel in Settings. Then issue a password reset from the control panel and the email should be sent to the new address that you specified. Or if you haven’t even logged into the server yet, I would just delete it. Then create and upload an ssh key in the control panel and use that when spinning up your new server. Then you won’t even get an email and you can login with your ssh key.
