Hi Digital Oceaneers,
I have a question about the managed database solutions from digital ocean.
I am a little confused whether its really what I need for my use case.
I’m creating an android / ios application… and I needed a database in the cloud to be able to store user data and “posts”.
I feel like I may have made a mistake thinking that a managed database can just work out of the box, be queried by users of a public app and be secure.
Am I out to lunch? I’m using flutter to build the app, and just wanted a simple stack to make this work for my customer.
Sigh …

If you don’t want to bother with stuff like security, scaling, etc. for the database, just take a look at firebase. It can provide you with out of the box user management and a real-time database.
I definitely want a secure cluster and some scaling capablility … I’m just trying to clarify what a managed db cluster like DO’s would be used for and if it can be used to connect to directly from an APP in the app store and google play store… or if it makes more sense to use PHP as to communicate between the atabase and the App… i guess I misunderstood the selling point a little bit.
