Manual SSL set-up

October 20, 2016 180 views
Nginx Ubuntu

I have been given some SSL certificates to migrate to a new host (on Digital Ocean/Server Pilot).

I am setting up a ssl.conf as discussed in this thread -> https://www.digitalocean.com/community/questions/install-ssl-certificate-manually-on-serverpilot-2

However, two questions:

  1. how do I test SSL for a staging server with a live domain from my local machine (as you can by updating host files to test launches on non-https)? Are the mechanics for SSL/HTTPS the same?

  2. Assuming can get working, how do I specify multiple certificates for multiple domains within the same account? eg for a multi-site set-up that is pointing multiple domains to the same path (but obviously will have different certificates/keys for each domain)?

Your help appreciated.

Regards,

Cole

I am not sure what you mean by this, but you can setup a local webserver with the SSL certificate on it and use like a local domain for it yes.

You can setup multiple vhosts for you webserver. In each VHOST you can use a different SSL certificate. This configuration depends on the webserver you are using.
