Migrate from open shift -> do/k8s - Don't understand digital ocean block storage

Block Storage

Hi,

migrated the majority of my software from a self hosted open shift cluster with glusterfs to digital ocean as it looks quite impressive what the platform brings “out of the box”. now after my first trys to scaleup to multiple instances for my service I learned that the DO block storage can be only mounted by a single pod - really ? what’s the reason or benefit of the block storage when I cannot use it cross pods.

what is the recommendation to enable storage for a project with 2 or more instances ? please help

thx martin

Hi there @mfbe1,

I’ve actually just tested this, I created a fresh new Managed Kubernetes Cluster and created a PVC, then I attached the PVC to 3 pod replicas and it all worked as expected. So with that using PVC with the block storage works with multiple pods.

For more information on how to create a PVC, I would recommend following the documentation here:

https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/kubernetes/how-to/add-volumes/

Hope that this helps.
Regards,
Bobby
