Minecraft server getting killed

I'm running my vanilla minecraft server on 512mb ram and me and 2 of my friends can play on it without any lag, but it keeps randomly shutting down like every hour and console gets freezed

Are you seeing any error messages? On a 512MB droplet, I'd hazard to guess that you are running out of memory. Even with only a few users, you'll be much better off with at least 1GB. You'll probably also want to add some swap:

  • Even when i have 1GB swap enabled and am running a server with 256MB limit (-Xmx256M) it is still getting killed after a few days of working.

Thank yo so much! Had the same problem with NodeJS, NPM and Gulp being Killed. I was trying everything, when I found your reply and realized that I’ve forgot to configure swap!!
