Hello ,

I was wondering if it is possible to have multiple wordpress installs
all seperate for each domain with Nginx?

on 1 server / droplet.

I did find a tutorial for multiple installs and multisite.
i did find one for Apache it works but takes alot of memory usage.
i am now using server pilot but want to try to do it manually.

thanks
Dieter

I assume you already read the tutorial.. Can you tell me where you stucked?

server {
    listen 80;
    server_name domain_name; # put your domain name here
    root /path/to/other/site; # put the path you created
    # And so on..
}

Adding these lines or creating a new file wouldn’t be that hard.

This tutorial will show you how to set up WordPress Multisite with subdomains on an Nginx web server. This allows you to run multiple unrelated websites, with their own domains, from a single WordPress admin panel.
  • Hey , Thanks for the info ,

    i read this tutorial but this is for multisite , i would like each domain a separate install of wordpress . do i follow the same thing or what would change ?

    thanks

      1. Make several directories.
      2. Copy unzipped wordpress to those paths.
      3. Create mysql databases / users for each setup if you want. You can give them different table prefix instead.
      4. Write server blocks in nginx conf that connect each paths to domains.

      Installing multiple times. Easy. But I guess it’ll be better to know what are you going to do with these.
