Question

must be owner of extension uuid-ossp

I am running a cron job that restores db dumps from AWS into postgres. We have a managed Postgres database by DO. I use the default user provided by DO which is doadmin. However pg_restore returns the following error:

pg_restore: while PROCESSING TOC:
pg_restore: from TOC entry 4370; 0 0 COMMENT EXTENSION "uuid-ossp"
pg_restore: error: could not execute query: ERROR: must be owner of extension uuid-ossp
Command was: COMMENT ON EXTENSION "uuid-ossp" IS 'generate universally unique identifiers (UUIDs)';

Shouldn’t the default doadmin already be an owner of this extension?

Hi there,

One way to go would be to modify the dump file and remove the COMMENT - EXTENSION lines.

Alternatively, to prevent the comments from being included to the dump file before even generating the export. To do that you can remove them from the source database being dumped:

COMMENT ON SCHEMA public IS NULL;

Let me know how it goes.

Best,
