MX records not showing on DO cPanel but Mailgun is still working?

Hello!

I recently set up a Mailgun account and attached it to my domain info at Namecheap. Eventually I deployed the project to DigitalOcean, so DO is currently managing the domain name information. I do not see the MX records I added in Namecheap in the DO cPanel but Mailgun is still working! Namecheap won’t let me look at the records because it says DO is managing them. How is this working? Should I add the MX records in the DO cPanel or just leave it all alone?

Hi @JarrettD5309,

I’m not sure I was able to understand where your Domains is being managed from. This can however be seen using a whois tool. You can use the following tool to try so : WHOIS Search.

If your Nameservers are:

ns1.digitalocean.com
ns2.digitalocean.com
ns3.digitalocean.com

This would mean your DNS is being managed by DigitalOcean and you can add/remove DNS from your Control Panel. In such case, add the MX record to your control panel where your Domain and DNS are.

If you see any other Nameservers, like something related to Namecheap, it would mean your DNS is being controlled from there and you’ll need to make any changes at their control panel.
