Question

My remote machine shows listening on the correct port, but the browser will not display the site.

I ran to nodejs apps and both of them showed the correct port in the console, however, when I entered the ip:port# in the browser the site would never load. Eventually the process timed out on both attempts. What could I possibly do to get this to work? Thanks

Make sure it’s binding to the right IP: 0.0.0.0 and not 127.0.0.1

Could also be a firewall, check firewall on VM (eg UFW) or DO firewall settings

However you probably want to proxy the traffic via something like nginx and not expose your node app directly.

Do you have a firewall configured? If you do you will need to allow these ports there as well.
