My VNC keeps freezing randomly.

July 23, 2014 3.1k views

When I use the console access everything is fine for awhile but then I will be typing something like alligator clips and my vnc will randomly freeze upon typing some of the letters. I cycle my server and it works fine but it keeps freezing up on me and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to make the server usable?

The remote console is there so you can access your droplet in case you get locked out or if you can't SSH to it.

If you need to access a desktop environment, consider installing a VNC server on your droplet: How To Setup VNC For Ubuntu 12.

If you just need to log in to your droplet's shell, you should use SSH instead. See Step Seven of How To Create Your First DigitalOcean Droplet Virtual Server.

VNC will allow you to connect to your server remotely, as well as be able to use your keyboard, mouse, and monitor to interface with that server. Get it setup on your Ubuntu 12 cloud server.
  • I have this same problem and this answer is unacceptable.

  • Hi,

This is a community support forum. If you'd like to report an issue with the console in the the control panel, please file a support ticket so the team can properly investigate.

    • I agree with James. Every time there's a huge chunk of output, the DigitalOcean VNC client hangs. Solution is close the hanged tabs (including the one where you opened it) and open it again in a new tab (easy to do in chrome with cmd+l cmd+enter)

Come on guys you can do better. We're paying your salaries lol.
