Hello All,
I just need an expert opinion about Cloudflare.

you all know Cloudflare has been growing rapidly and recently they announced their 100th data center. its quite impressive i must say.

but what i want to know, is Cloudflare improves performance for web applications as well when theres no big files. all the js & css goes into browser cache on first time and after that on each request only couple of bytes are transferred. so is it wise to put an extra layer between DO and users?

on the other hand, for my website, Cloudflare seems to be the perfect solution and with their fast DNS, origin ssl, basic ddos protection and few other features, its quite hard to avoid using it.

Could someone direct me to the right path?

  • Hi,

Cloudfare offers a variety of benefits, even if you don't have any big files. You will reduce bandwidth consumption, speed up delivery of your pages to customers, get SSL (even on the Free plan), and more. You can take a look at the performance and security features and let me know if you have any questions about specifics.

    hello there,
thanks for your answer. i am fully aware of all the features of cloudflare and thats the reason im pretty much eager to use it. but the thing is, when it comes to speed only, will it make any negative impact when my pages loads already in less then a sec? im talking about an web based application where every page are just about 15/30 kb only. 50kb is max.

for app like that i know i dont i dont need cloudflare for speed up. but i want to use cloudflare for its other features. just worried it will degrade my app or not on speed.

i hope im able to explain myself.

Hey there,

Cloudflare is an incredibly powerful tool for your toolbox. It is not perfect in every situation, but for most of the sites I run, I set it up. It helps protect against DDOSes, security threats, and gives me some awesome filtering abilities.

As for "is it wise"? I would say yes! If you do not have something that would block you from using Cloudflare, event their free plan can give you a ton of awesome features...for Free!
