New to Nginx (Help me im dying)

Posted July 10, 2014 1.9k views

I am trying to get a simple setup with nginx to host some static HTML pages on my Ubuntu 14.04 and no matter what I do I can never seem to figure out how to get the config right to go to a web address provided. I have never used Nginx until my boss told me to and I have spent 2 days just trying to get the config right, I’m at the point to where I have puTTy up with FileZilla and can’t even find a config page anymore, I have become very frustrated and flustered over this. Any help is appreciated…

Thank you.

When used with nginx, "Virtual Hosts" are referred to as "Server Blocks" and allow users to run more than one website/domain off a single server/IP address. The kernel used in this tutorial is Debian 7: it will go over how to set up a new directory/grant permissions/add content/turn on virtual hosting/set up local hosts.
