Question

(Newbie to Websites) I cannot login with my root password. Wordpress panel.

This is my first attempt at having a website.

For some reason, I am doing something wrong because when I look at the tutorials all it says is to specify custom domain names to ns1-ns3.digitalocean.com

I also inputted the ip in name server registration on NameCheap.

The droplet domain registration also accepted the add domain.

When I use WinSCP or the Opera browser or IE to login to the ip address - I get the username and password box but when I copy paste the root password, it just resets the sign box as blank.

The root password you received is used to log into the server directly via SSH. Check out this article for all the details:

The password that is requested when you visit the WordPress site via the browser is different. To retrieve it you must first log into the server. For all the details on the WordPress One-Click app, check out:

Hi @Foolness,

Another solution to reset your password is using the WP-CLI tool. This tool can be installed on your droplet and used for all the WordPress installations there. It’s website is :

https://wp-cli.org/

One of the coolest options there will help you out here as well. You can either create a new administrator user or actually reset the password for the current user.

Hello, all

If you want to reset the WordPress admin dashboard password than you can easily recover it by accessing the admin area login page and click the “Lost your password?” link. You can then enter either your Username or Email Address to receive the new password.

The other option is the reset the password from the WordPress database directly. You can check the following mini tutorial on how to do this here:

Hope that this helps Regards, Alex
