I am looking at setting up a NAS using nextcloud but I want it to only be usable over VPN, ideally so I don’t need a DNS/Domain registrar. Similar to how you might map network drives in windows, but they only work when the VPN is connected. Is this possible and actually useful? or should I setup a network share on my droplet?
Many Thanks

You could certainly do this. Once you have your services configured you can set up a firewall like ufw to restrict connections to these services to only the incoming IP provided by your VPN.
This guide will walk you through setting up a firewall with ufw.
