Nginx does not recognize domain name

Nginx

After following the tutorial on how to configure Nginx “How to Install Nginx on Ubuntu 20.04, I am able to open my droplet’s IP address but not the domain name (mroberts333.net). I have re-checked the configuration and everything appears to be correct, but Nginx generates this message:
Not found - Request ID: 51fa5fca-6965-49e1-944d-44782be02ad8-7189432

Hi @mroberts1,

There are a couple of possible solutions in this scenario. Let’s start from the most obvious one. I pinged your domain - mroberts333.net and I can see it’s pinging from an Amazon Range. If you want to use your domain with your DigitalOcean Droplet, you’ll need to adjust your DNS.

The most important thing you need to do is point your A record to your DigitalOcean droplet. You can do that by changing the DNS record from where your Nameservers are located.

Another possible solution would be to change your domain’s Nameservers to DigitalOcean ones:

  • ns1.digitalocean.com
  • ns2.digitalocean.com
  • ns3.digitalocean.com

and manage your DNS from your Control Panel with DigitalOcean. Additionally, there is a really good documentation page about how you can achieve that here:

https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/networking/dns/
