Hello, I created a brand new droplet and I’m following this guide:
How to configure Multiple Domains with Nginx on Ubuntu

but when I get to Validate our Configuration and Start Nginx, it says that I have to type:

sudo nginx -t -c /etc/nginx/sites-available/

it tells me:

nginx: [emerg] "server" directive is not allowed here in /etc/nginx/sites-available/
nginx: configuration file /etc/nginx/sites-available/ test failed

Did anyone had this problem before that can help?

Thank you

Hello friend!

I don’t see anything wrong with the guide technically, but sometimes errors are not easily seen visually. I can tell you that we have a guide for it here:

That should apply to Ubuntu 18 all the same. If you run into trouble along the way with it, you may want to start over again and go a bit more slowly. It can be much more painful to re-trace your steps and find out where an error was made.

Kind Regards

When using the Nginx web server, server blocks (similar to the virtual hosts in Apache) can be used to encapsulate configuration details and host more than one domain off of a single server. In this guide, we'll discuss how to configure server blocks in Nginx on an Ubuntu 16.04 server.
