Nginx SSL Commericial Certificate Installation Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

In the below config settings, what does webroot refer too? The var/www folder? This is for a commerical ssl certificate, not the free stuff.

server {

listen 443 ssl;

ssl_certificate /path/to/certificate/your_domain_chain.crt;

ssl_certificate_key /path/to/your_private.key;

root /path/to/webroot;

The root directive specifies the root directory that will be used to search for a file. To obtain the path of a requested file, NGINX appends the request URI to the path specified by the root directive. The directive can be placed on any level within the http {} , server {} , or location {} contexts.

As Sergio Turpín mentioned, this is the full path to where your website files are stored.

If you are not 100% sure what it is, you can get it from your non-SSL server block file. In there you should be able to see all of the extra configuration settings that you might have to carry over to your SSL server block too.
