Question

No MySQL option in App Platform

MySQLDigitalOcean App Platform

I’m trying to add a managed database to my app on the App Platform however only PostgreSQL is shown when using the ‘add component’ button. Can anyone advise how to create a MySQL database inside the App Platform interface.

There are no further options to change the database type when upgrading to a production database either.

Thanks,

Hello @BongoBrian ,

Looking at the screenshot, you are opting for the Dev Database. For Dev DB, we only provide Postgres, however, if you opt for the production DB, you will be able to select MySQL, Redis and Postgres.

Refer to below link for more insights:

Hope this helps!

  • Hi Sri, thanks for the reply. The first screenshot shows the page that is shown immediately after clicking Add Component > Database with the App Platform interface. As you can see there is no option to choose between Dev Database or Production Database.

It appears that it’s not currently possible to create a MySQL production database within the App Platform itself. It looks like I’ll have to create a managed database in a project and connect to that separately. Can you confirm that this is correct.
