When I try to run the app on port 80 I get:
“Node.js droplet: Port 80 is already in use”

It works when running it in port 3000 tho.
Why is that?

Hi @mrstevejobs,

The error is experiencing when another application/service is already using the configured port, in your case 80. Most probably, port 80 is used by either Apache or Nginx.

You can confirm this by executing the following command

netstat -tulpen | grep 80

It will show you which service is listening on that port. As soon as you know the service, you can turn it off like so

service serviceName stop

Then start your NodeJS on port80 and that’s it.
