Why is it that digital ocean do not support any other currency than USD?

I don’t think you should be allowed to have a data centre in whatever country you are in if you don’t support its local currency.

If I pay in USD my credit card will charge me extra for paying in a foreign currency. It wouldn’t be an issue if I could use my prepaid Mastercard but you won’t allow this!

It’s true that banks have an annoying habit of making charges and a margin on foreign currency which can be disproportionate on smaller transactions. However Digital Ocean accept Paypal. If you have a PP account you can maintain a balance in USD as well as your local currency. Paying from a PP USD balance will not incur charges though you will have to accept Paypal’s exchange rate when transferring funds from your local currency.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. I actually really like digital ocean so far but this lets them down.

In the UK there are credit cards that don’t charge for foreign currency, so I think I will sign up to one. I haven’t had a positive experience with paypal recently and want to boycott them.
