I recently one click installed Plesk for Digital Ocean. As recommended by Plesk, I am moving the DNS for the domains hosted on the Plesk/DO instance. The A records seem to work. I am trying to get a “wildcard” SSL/TLS certificate through Let’s Encrypt. To do that, I was told to create a TXT record on DO’s DNS. The host is _acme-challenge.bunnellassociates.com and the record is a text string. I set up a few TXT records and I do not think they are working. I also set up _dmarc.bunnellassociates.com. I thought if I put these addresses in my browser, the TXT string would show up but I get
We can’t connect to the server at _dmarc.bunnellassociates.com
I ran WHOIS for one of these sites with this result:
Domain Name: BUNNELLASSOCIATES.COM Registry Domain ID: 2584012085_DOMAIN_COM-VRSN Registrar WHOIS Server: whois.godaddy.com Registrar URL: http://www.godaddy.com Updated Date: 2023-02-02T00:35:33Z Creation Date: 2021-01-11T14:29:45Z Registry Expiry Date: 2024-01-11T14:29:45Z Registrar: GoDaddy.com, LLC Registrar IANA ID: 146 Registrar Abuse Contact Email: abuse@godaddy.com Registrar Abuse Contact Phone: 480-624-2505 Domain Status: clientDeleteProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientDeleteProhibited Domain Status: clientRenewProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientRenewProhibited Domain Status: clientTransferProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientTransferProhibited Domain Status: clientUpdateProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientUpdateProhibited Name Server: NS1.DIGITALOCEAN.COM Name Server: NS2.DIGITALOCEAN.COM Name Server: NS3.DIGITALOCEAN.COM DNSSEC: unsigned URL of the ICANN Whois Inaccuracy Complaint Form: https://www.icann.org/wicf/

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Hello @jasonbunnell
I’ll recommend you to check our docs on how to setup DNS record which you can check here
https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/networking/dns/how-to/manage-records/#txt-records
Also keep in mind that DNS records might take up to 24 hours in order to propagate. This is mainly due to DNS cache from ISPs and general propagation time.
You can also use our DNS lookup tool to make sure that the records are configured properly
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tools/dns
Hope that this helps!
