Heya,

Keep in mind that the DNS will take some time in order to update. In most cases, the full propagation time is around 48 hours due to the DNS cache from ISPs.

You can use our DNS lookup tool to make sure the DNS records are correct:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tools/dns

As for the WordPress installation, you can use our Marketplace one-click app or install it manually on your droplet.

Hope that this helps!

Hi there,

Sometimes the DNS caching could take more than e few hours to clear over the Globe before you could see the new DNS records.

In general, pointing a domain from Squarespace to DigitalOcean and installing WordPress involves a few steps.

Here is what you would need to do:

1. Pointing Domain from Squarespace to DigitalOcean:

  1. Setup DigitalOcean Domain:

    • Go to your DigitalOcean dashboard.
    • Navigate to the Networking tab.
    • Under Domains, click on Add a domain.
    • Enter your domain and select your droplet. This will create appropriate A records pointing your domain to the IP address of the droplet.
  2. Update Nameservers at Squarespace:

  3. Propagation Time: DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to propagate throughout the Internet. While it’s usually faster than 48 hours, it’s important to note that during this time, some people might see your old website, and some might see the new one.

2. Installing WordPress on DigitalOcean:

What you could do is just use the 1-Click installation option as described in this tutorial here:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-use-the-wordpress-one-click-install-on-digitalocean-2

Once the Droplet is up and running, get the IP address of the Droplet and add it as an A record for your domain name via the DigitalOcean control panel.

Hope that this helps and let me know if you have any questions!

Best,

Bobby

Heya,

First, make sure you have added your DNS records. If you are using DigitalOcean’s nameservers, then you’ll need to manage your DNS from your control Panel:

https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/networking/dns/getting-started/dns-registrars/

https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/networking/dns/

Once you have done that, you need to SSH to your Droplet to start the installation process. You’ll be then asked to visit your website ot finish up the installation there.
