Postfix on Wordpress Ubuntu can send but cannot receive emails from external domains

Posted on October 28, 2013

I am using Wordpress Ubuntu and I only installed Postfix, not Dovecot yet. I did everything in the book but I can only send email. I can receive them too but the mail does not show up in /var/mail/$username. The log is fine with no errors and when I tried sending an email from Gmail, Gmail said the email was sent successfully. I think there is something wrong with “promailrc”. Can you guys guide me on how to configure promailrc? This is my mail.log, I tried sending an email from test@gmail.com to root@mydomain.com: http://pastebin.com/97tETHeZ This is my main.cf: http://pastebin.com/Se6xd8fn Thanks guys!

Hi, please don’t mind this question as I successfully set up to use Live as my email solution. Thanks!

“I did everything in the book but I can only send email.”

Exactly, Postfix is an SMTP server. If you want to receive mail, you need Dovecot or Cyrus; or some other POP or IMAP server.

Pablo, postfix works as an MTA so it allows you to receive emails as well.
