September 17, 2014 20.9k views

Hello

I'm trying to setup postfix on my server. I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and I followed these instructions: http://www.codechewing.com/library/set-up-postfix-on-ubuntu-server/

When I check postfix logs this is what I get:

Sep 17 12:12:25 objavi-net postfix/pickup[7513]: 1488312009A: uid=1000 from=<forge@objavi-net>
Sep 17 12:12:25 objavi-net postfix/cleanup[7532]: 1488312009A: message-id=<20140917101225.1488312009A@objavi.net>
Sep 17 12:12:25 objavi-net postfix/qmgr[7512]: 1488312009A: from=<forge@objavi-net>, size=344, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
Sep 17 12:12:25 objavi-net postfix/smtp[7534]: 1488312009A: to=<alenn.masic@gmail.com>, relay=gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[64.233.166.27]:25, delay=0.68, delays$
Sep 17 12:12:25 objavi-net postfix/qmgr[7512]: 1488312009A: removed

... but email is not received.
Can someone help me with this? Thanks

It looks like gmail indeed did receive it. Maybe they are blacklisting your ip. Check your mail logs to see if you are getting 421 or 550 errors coming back from google.

Can you send mail to anyone else?

Also double check DNS. Make sure hostname and reverse PTR records are correct.

Add or check SPF records and DKIM.

It seems that my email is rejected. What should I do about this?

  • Your text above got cut off so I didn't see the actually error code.

The only thing I can think of is at http://www.rackaid.com/blog/gmail-blacklist-removal/

They have some tips on how to get removed.

  • This is the missing part of error message: status=bounced (mail for objavi.net loops back to myself)

outlook.com receive mail with no problems, although it marks my email address as spam

  • Seems you got more than one problem. Looking carefully at your mail.log looks like what bounced back was message from root to root@objavi.net This is a config error in postfix. Check your myhostname and mydestination in main.cf

A somewhat better doc on setting up postfix can be found at https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-and-setup-postfix-on-ubuntu-14-04

Sorry I can't be more help.

Postfix is one of the most popular open source mail delivery agents (MTA) in the world. In this guide, we will demonstrate how to install and configure a simple Postfix setup on an Ubuntu 14.04 server.
  • I solved it, it seems that my hostname was objavi-net and I thought it's objavi.net. Anyway, it's working now, thanks for your help. Best regards.

whenever i recieve an email i got this message
delivered to command: /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -c /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf -m "${EXTENSION}"
