Prices explanation: $5 per space or $5 for spaces?

DigitalOcean isn’t very clear if it will cost me $5 per space (e.g: $5 for a SQL Backup space AND $5 for image hosting space) or if it’s $5 for access to spaces as a product and then I’m charged past the 250GB of storage and 1TB of bandwidth.

Any help clearing this one up please?

Once you start using Spaces, the actual number of Spaces has no effect on billing.

You can have one Space or a thousand Spaces, and as long as:

  1. The total storage across all your Spaces is less than 250GB
  2. The total outbound bandwidth across all your Spaces is less than 1TB

you will only be charged $5

Go ahead and create that Space :)

I had to use google and find this very discussion in order to answer that question before I created my first space.

I strongly recommend this to be clarified on the pricing information site.

Thanks - this should be clarified on the pricing page. It is not clear …

@AHA so.... I’m still confused, it’s clear that as long as you use 250GB and 1TB in data transfer you’ll be charged $5…so long, so good. Now, what if I need to use 1.25 TB in space, and say the first month only 650 Gb data transfer, but come September and I’ll need 3.5TB and 1.3Tb data transfer.. how much would I pay in these scenarios?

  • Hello,

The subscription includes 250 GiB of data storage (cumulative across all of your Spaces). Additional storage beyond this allotment is $0.02 per GiB. If you cancel your subscription by destroying all your Spaces, your bill will be prorated hourly.

Regarding the bandwidth, the additional outbound transfer is $0.01 per GiB.
