React app sees environment variables only in .env file and not in app-level variables on DO

I’m new to React. We have an app which uses some variables like Google Maps Api Key. Everything works fine when the variables are stored in the .env file. However, we want to move our environment variables to the App-level variables on the DO (just as we do on our backend side with django). But unfortunately, they are not picked up by our React app from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Did you add your variable to env variables?
  2. If you did add, can you go to console and print the env variable?

If you don’t see the value of the env variable in console, you can click on Force deploy and check.

  • Yes, I did add all the variables to env variables on DO and yes, I can printenv and see my variables there. But my React app doesn’t see them unless I put them into an .env file.
