Question

Redirects not working in apache2

I’m new to digitalocean and I’m trying to get pages from my aged domain to redirect to the home page for SEO purposes. I’ve tried making a .htaccess file and everything in this tutorial with the .conf file https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-create-temporary-and-permanent-redirects-with-apache-and-nginx but i still get 404 errors on the pages that are supposed to redirect.

Im considering just going back to regular hosting as I’m at my wits end. Can anyone help?

Hi there,

It sounds like that you might have to enable ModRewrite, you can do that with the following command:

  1. sudo a2enmod rewrite

After that restart your Apache service:

  1. sudo systemctl restart apache2

Let me know how it goes. Best, Bobby
