Installing MariaDB will uninstall MySql. As the error indicates, when the mysql2 gem is installed it is compiled for a specific version of MySql. To upgrade to a new major version of MariaDB, you’ll first need to remove the old gem, install the MariaDB development library, and then reinstall it with bundler.

This should get you back up and running:

gem uninstall mysql2
sudo apt-get install libmariadbclient-dev
cd /srv/redmine
bundle install
