Retrieve data on a snap shot

Posted October 12, 2014 3k views

I have an old snap shot that has configuration files I would like to look at.
I do NOT want to destroy or mess with the droplet that the snapshot was made from.
My working site.
How do I make a droplet from this snapshot (so I can access it) so its DNS settings wont clash with my main droplet?

You can create a new droplet based on the snapshot that you took without affecting the original droplet at all. Once you get to the Select Image section of the Create Droplet page, click on the My Images tab and then select your snapshot.

  • thank you that worked!....

Just for others that may bump into this:

I have a couple of images I wanted to get files off of. First one went smoothly.
You must remove the entry created in /Users/whoYouAre/.ssh/known_hosts or your ssh into the new droplet will fail on the next droplet created. You need to do this after each creation and destruction.

    thanks again for your help!
