Running a minecraft-server 24/7 and Lag free.

It’s been nearly two months when I first created the server. I upgraded my specs to 8 GB ram with two cores. I have 20-30 players active on my server, so I want to make it 24/7 active. But allocating resources and making the server online, frequent plugins check to remove lag were deemed hard enough for me. The problem I face a lot is the high pings(more lags) even though the location is set to the nearest(BLR1) where most of the players who play on my server. I don’t know if it’s the low amount of resources being taken, or any other problem itself from the server. This is how I start my server “java -Xms4G -Xmx6G -jar paper-1.17.jar nogui”. Am I doing it wrong?

Hi @Crystallinearc,

When you notice the lag on the MineCraft server, check your Droplet, see if everything is running smoothly on it. It seems like your Droplet is experiencing difficulties and thus you see them when you play on the server.

What I’ll recommend is once you start seeing delays, SSH to your Droplet and type in htop. Check if there is load and if it is what is taking so much Memory or CPU that is causing issues.
