Samba remote file server error. cant esablish connection

Posted December 15, 2014 1.9k views

i installed a smb server on my droplet that was accesible from windows.
Recently the remote connection stops working. i try everything for fix this problem, but nothing works.
The problem not is the firewall, i stop iptables and the problem persists.
I reinstall samba, problem persists.

The windows system said that all are ok but cant establish connection.
In my search i read that samba dont supports CIFS anymore.
Anyone know whats the way for fix this.

The best way to solve this is to isolate the issue to a single thread by first eliminating other causes. You’ve already tested your firewall, but you should also try pinging your server from your Windows client on the port you use for filesharing. Then explore if you can ping or connect to your Linux server on any ports, or through any protocols. Next, try to access your smb server from another client (try windows, and linux). Finally, look into the logs on your Samba server to see what it is reporting in the case of the connection failing.
