Setting up a dev environment from a production snapshot.

Posted on July 29, 2017

I tried to set up a dev enviornment by creating a new droplet from an existing snapshot, but it redirects to my production website. How and where do I change urls so that i can use the new droplet for development and testing.

You need to provide more information so we can help you, please answer these questions:

What kind of web app are you working on? What language/framework do you use? How do you access your production environment? How are you trying to access the new dev environment?

You probably need to change environment specific configuration files so you can choose to work on the new environment for example use the dev database server not the production one.

Hope this helps.
