CentOS 8 is not available yet, even CentOS 7.7.
Do you have any update on this?

Hi everyone. They are waiting for CentOS team to release Cloud images first. So, we are on hold until CentOS release version 8 of cloud images.

+1. I was unable to find CentOS 8 in any zone. Your common competitors have CentOS 8 as an option. One of them even makes it the very default option, which is kind of surprising as I usually see Ubuntu in that role.

@DigitalOcean - It’s quite clear CentOS are taking their sweet time with Cloud images for CentOS 8, and people are asking in their mailing list what the hold up is, with no response. All is silent it seems. No response given by the CentOS team as to why its delayed or any form of ETA. The silence is deafening.

Here’s an idea - make your own images for your customers instead of waiting on the CentOS team to provide some.

Hi @armingdev,

This would be a question for Digital Ocean’s Dev team. Unfortunately, this forum is for answering technical questions which we might know the questions.

Anyway, please let us know what the answer of Digital Ocean is regarding this matter as soon as you have one.

Kind regards,

Hello, CentOS 8 and CentOS Stream images have just been released to our locations. Deploy a droplet for CentOS 8 or CentOS Stream now!!!

I suggest you create a droplet in the zones where available.

Take an image/snapshot and transfer to the zone of choice.

Create new droplet from that image.

I have not attempted this for CentOS8, but have for CentOS7.

Any update on this yet?

I already run Centos 7.7. I am assuming I can’t safely upgrade to centos 8, but I am double checking.

Hi Digital Ocean. It looks like cloud images have been released.
