Slow database search for WordPress site

Posted on July 2, 2014

Our WordPress website is hosted on Digital Ocean with 16GB Ram 60GB SSD Disk. However, our database search is very slow and we have almost 1 million records in the database. My question is, what would your recommendation be in order to speed up the search. Should we resize the droplet (increase to the next one up)? What are the advantages of resizing a droplet to a bigger one? Will resizing the droplet give us a more powerful server and memory to process SQL queries?
