SMTP not working anymore

“Contact your web hosting provider and ask them to verify your server can make outside connections. Additionally, ask them if a firewall or security policy may be preventing the connection - many shared hosts block certain ports.” I’m pasting what the WP Mail SMTP Plugin spit out when it error-ed to make sure i don’t forget anything. I had email working earlier but out of nowhere it stopped. Does Digital Ocean Block SMTP?

You can configure your Droplet anyway you want. Digital Ocean does not limit this service in any way.

Now to troubleshoot the issue, can you please enter your droplet via SSH like

ssh root@IpOfYourDroplet

and type the following

netstat -tulpen | grep -E '(465|587|25)'

This command will show you what, if anything is listening on ports 565/465/25. Those ports are the ones used for SMTP and the command will also show you which service for sending mail you are using.

Additionally, can you provide us with the settings of your WP Mail SMTP Plugin to check if they are correct?
