Question

sshfs or nfs for Windows Steam games from a Virtualbox or better, is there a step by step Tutorial?

Hello,

I would really be happy to put NTFS behind me, as every 1,5 year there is a case of chkdsk without a way around it.
And with an 8TB Disk it is no more fun, to have not access to the games and downloads folders.

So anyway to make a step-by-step tutorial for installing VB in W10 and setting up the sshfs or NFS and get rid of the childish behaviour of MS not implementing ext4 etc for Windows?

That would be a punch under the bell for MS too.

Regards

Hi there,

I personally use WSL 2 and it is quite good. You can take a look on how to set that up here:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-the-windows-subsystem-for-linux-2-on-microsoft-windows-10

If you can’t use WSL, I would personally use NFS rather than SSHFS as I believe that it is a bit more reliable. The benefit of using SSHFS is its simplicity.

You can follow the steps here on how to setup NFS server and client here:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-an-nfs-mount-on-ubuntu-20-04

Hope that this helps.

In this guide, we'll go over how to install the software needed for NFS functionality on Ubuntu 20.04, configure two NFS mounts on a server and client, and mount and unmount the remote shares.
