I am currently in a dilemma: I need to have an e-mail address on my domain to register the SSL certificate I got from namecheap, but for the e-mail I need the ssl certificate - how can I do this?

The mail method isn’t the only available one. You can verify your certificate adding a TXT record in your domain, or something like that.
You should look better for this option in the certificate verification page :)
