Dear Team,

I have few questions and appreciate if you can share few things.

  • When I create account with DO and enable API integration, is there a limit on number
    of droplets that are created. I am asking because all the droplets that will be selled will go through my account correct ?
  • I am planning to start my company in India do you support the payment options from India to US. If yes can you point me to the description link.
  • Do you provide live chat support or I have only community help.
  • Will I be able to sell all the plans offered by you including high volume plans.

Sumit, these are great questions...

  • When you create a new account it has a droplet limit of 5. This can be raised as needed by opening a ticket with our support team. This is in place to prevent fraudulent accounts from quickly using a ton of resources for spam or other nefarious purposes. The limit can be raised via a request and there is no upper ceiling. We have users with limits over 1000 droplets.
  • While all payments are processed in USD we accept credit cards or paypal payments from anywhere in the world (aside from the couple of countries that US businesses are not allowed to)
  • We don't have live chat but you can open a ticket with our support team from the control panel or by emailing support@. This is staffed by our awesome support team 24/7 and they strive for a quick response time at any hour.
  • Resale is certainly allowed. Some new accounts may be restricted when they are first launched to the 8GB size and smaller. Like the droplet limit this is an anti-fraud measure and can also be removed by opening a ticket with our support team.
  • Thank you so much Ryan for your reply. I am planning to resell the DO products but I have very less confidence as to how the API integration works.

    DO control panel provides a terminal(black window) window when you create account which helps developers access there server. Will DO API allows access to terminal(black window) so that I can show the same to my customers.
    I have very specific question about scripts. Does DO API provide the ability to throw the script on the server and run it so that user does not have to go manually. For e.g. when we create droplet i have ability to install nodejs similarly can I run any customized scripts using DO API.
    I am looking for a DO developer or anyone who can help me develop this application. Can someone help me in this regards.

  • I'll take these individually:

    • DO control panel provides a terminal(black window) window when you create account which helps developers access there server. Will DO API allows access to terminal(black window) so that I can show the same to my customers.

    Currently the console in the control panel is not accessible outside it so your customers would not have access to this feature. The console is provided mainly for emergency access should a user lose access via ssh (which is the preferred method to access a droplets command line interface).

    The API provides some ways you can customize a droplet on creation.

    1. You can create a droplet from an application image to have a pre-installed set of software
    2. You can have you system create droplets from snapshots you create. A snapshot can be made of any droplet once you have configured it as you like and is a complete copy of that disk image.
    3. You can pass user-data to the API. This can be either a cloud-init file or a shell script and by doing this you can have the droplet perform whatever tasks you want when it launches including installing additional software, reporting in to a central server or creating user accounts.
    • I am looking for a DO developer or anyone who can help me develop this application. Can someone help me in this regards.

    I can't personally help you there but if you let me know what language you plan to work in I can direct you to a library for our API making it simple to integrate. There is also a WHMCS plugin for DigitalOcean (though I am not 100% certain if it has moved to v2 of our API) that allows you to manage all this via WHMCS.

  From above 'should a user lose access via ssh (which is the preferred method to access a 
  droplets command line interface)' do you mean that I can access to command line 
  interface through API which is nothing but black terminal window in the control panel?

I had like to develop the service in java or nodejs. Please let me know the best link. Any human
pointers will be of great help.
