Strange Behaviour with Site Loading

 • Posted April 1, 2014

My site is A typical page has, say, 100 resources which it fetches from the server. On a regular page load, about 95 of them are loaded in an instant, 5 get stuck. These 5 appear to be random resources, and won’t load even if I wait for a minute.

When I do a hard refresh, some other 5 will get stuck. It takes about 2 - 3 refreshes to load one page. I don’t think the problem is with my internet, since other sites load fine. The speed is 16 mbps.

What could be causing this? Is it because the DO server is in USA, while I am loading the site from India, and other sites, which are loading fine, use CDN? I tested my site using pingdom, with their US servers, and the load time is always less than 1s

How do I troubleshoot this?

Thanks. I guess you’re right. I tried loading the page with a different connection (with lower speed), and there was a noticeable difference.

Your site loads within a few seconds from Denmark, Norway and Sweden. No resources are hanging from those locations, so the problem is definitely not caused by your server.

If I were you, I would try to lower the amount of resources the browser has to load just to see if it is some kind of throttling. If that is the case, the throttling is most likely due to your ISP.
