Subdomain with different DocumentRoot

Posted March 25, 2015 6.7k views

I’m trying to set up a subdomain of which will direct to a DocumentRoot different from the default DocumentRoot set up to show at

I have the VirtualHost set up for this, and I have my DNS records set up for this, but it still appears to not be working.

Any suggestions on troubleshooting?

Hey there,

You can create a virtualhost configuration just for with it’s own DocumentRoot location. Here is a tutorial for Ubuntu and we have another tutorial that focuses on CentOS.

Happy coding,

The Apache web server is the most popular way to serve web content on the internet. Apache has the ability to serve multiple domains from a single server by using a mechanism called "virtual hosts". If a virtual host is configured correctly for each domain, the web server can correctly route traffic to the appropriate files based on the domain name requested. In this guide, we'll demonstrate how to configure Apache virtual hosts on an Ubuntu 14.04 VPS.
