I'm having trouble reaching my server via its domain name. I can reach it fine via IP address. This is weird since it had been working fine for almost a year which means my DNS records should be configured correctly, and my domain name has not expired. Any thoughts why this may be? The domain name in question is

  • Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved yet? My site was working fine last night, but I changed the name of a droplet this morning and now I am getting a "server DNS address could not be found" error when trying to hit the sight, but nothing with the DNS configuration has changed. Just wondering if this is the same problem, or if it is something I have done by changing the name.

DigitalOcean is experiencing problems at the moment, they're working to fix it now. It's not an issue from your end.

Same here, and I have clients losing their minds at me right now! Was just about to move everything over to DO and now I'm not sure I'm staying at all....

  • If your uptime is so important to your clients, why don't you have a redundant setup?

    • How would a redundant setup keep working if the DNS is down?

      • Multiple nameservers with several providers?

        • I have my domains with GoDaddy and those domains point to the nameservers for DO. How can I add a redundant nameserver?

          • You copy your DNS records to another provider (e.g. GoDaddy, Route 53, etc) and add those nameservers to your domain on top of DO's.

Ugh. I wish Id found this thread before spending the last hour frantically googling / futzing with my droplet to fix it. :( Is there a way to receive notifications from DO in the event of such an outage?
